There is so much excitement here in Benue State. This passion is sourced from the idea that a certain gubernatorial candidate is the messianic leader of the green valley. This of course is not something new, this happens every election season and I expect that the consistency of such events should establish wisdom in our hearts.
The gubernatorial candidate in view is a good man and has established a track record of faithfulness in stewardship within the community of the faithful. If given the opportunity, I believe he can do something about our present malady. However, I have a controversy with the structure he is part of and more specifically with the architect of this structure in our state.
Ruling structures when viewed under the light of scriptures are like beasts with horns(read Daniel 7; Revelation 12 & 13 for more clarity). The horn is the spiritual reality of the king: within the context of our civilization and subsequent discussions, this will be the flag bearer of a political party or an elected candidate from a political party. It is like the beast bearing the horn. The horn doesn't decide it's a path, the beast does. At this point, you should know where I am heading already.
Events leading to the 2015 gubernatorial elections saw the emergence of our current governor as the consensus candidate of a newly formed political party. This happened in a closed-door meeting engineered by the architect of this party. As the masses cheered in excitement over this decision, they failed to tune down their emotions to realize that the architect was only looking for a point of entry back into the political corridors of our state after losing his manipulative grip over his progeny the then incumbent governor of Benue State.
This architect operates from a spirit of control like Jezebel and we the masses have proved to be his faithful Ahab over the years. His love for power far exceeds our love for the salvation of Benue State. This shows what spirit he is of. He understands clearly the operating principles of ruling structures and will go to any length to graft the perceived messiah into his system knowing fully well that the beast always carries the horn.
I will advise the "messianic" gubernatorial candidate to use this window of opportunity created by infighting amongst the various candidates within the party and move to another party IF POSSIBLE. If not, our salvation is incomplete as our perceived savior will only become a puppet governor if elected.
In conclusion, this gubernatorial candidate is a good man and I would likely vote for him if given the opportunity. However, I'll do so without dripping emotions pedestaled in the hope of a drastic change given the probability that he wins the election so long as he remains with his current political party. The widespread call from every quarters for us to get our PVC is noble and a healthy step in the right direction. Nonetheless, I believe prayer is at the heart of every matter for it is written: "men ought always to pray" and this honor we have as saints "we shall bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written. Praise ye the LORD."
